Wavesat And ZTE Sign Agreement For Broadband Wireless OFDM 802.16 Based Chips

MONTREAL, Mar 15 - Wavesat Inc., a developer of OFDM Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) silicon solutions, today announced that it has entered into a Cooperative Agreement with ZTE Corporation of Shenzhen, China, to evaluate Wavesat's DM256 chip and confirm it meets the performance and technology requirements of ZTE's customers.

"We will test and evaluate WAVESAT's DM256 chip and we believe the cooperation will benefit developing ZTE's next-generation Fixed Broadband Wireless Access systems", said Jiongyi Fan, General product manager of BWA with ZTE.

Both Wavesat and ZTE are members of the WiMAX Forum. They believe that their cooperation will be the catalyst to its commercialization, and will make the Fixed Wireless business case compelling to operators and accelerate the deployment of this technology.
