Long Distance Adoption System Formulated

LUSAKA, Apr. 29 - The Inter-religious and International Federation for World Peace (IIFWP) has introduced a long-distance adoption system for orphaned children in Zambia.

IIFWP director in charge of HIV/AIDS prevention and character education in Zambia Adamson Musonda said this in Lusaka yesterday at an HIV/AIDS seminar.

Mr Musonda said the adoption was arranged between families in the United States of America and identified orphans in Zambia.

He said the children adopted would be assisted by the families in the United States until they completed their education.

He also said his organisation had also built a community school for orphaned children.

And speaking earlier, IIFWP character education specialist from the United States of America Alan Saunders said character-education was the foundation in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

He said children should be taught how to be responsible from a young age if the fight against HIV/AIDS was to be won.
