'We Have Capacity To Produce Ethanol'

LUSAKA, May 17 - The production of ethanol locally would drastically reduce Government problems of importing crude oil, Zambia Sugar Plc has said.

In an interview in Mazabuka yesterday, Zambia Sugar managing director John Moult said Government had been spending a lot of money on importing crude oil.

He said with local production of ethanol fuel, Government would be spending less. "We have the capacity to produce ethanol as Zambia Sugar, as long as Government gives us a go ahead and other environmental issues are taken into consideration," Mr Moult said.

He said the production of ethanol would also reduce the dependency on oil producing countries for crude oil.
